Includes coffee/tea, lunch, materials and exhibition entry. Our guided tour of the contemporary art on display in St Paul’s Cathedral includes Bill Viola’s ‘Martyrs’ and a brand-new water installation arriving in early October. We are pleased to offer this behind-the-scenes tour of the Royal Opera House especially created for RA Friends, which includes a post-tour talk on their ambitious building project, ‘OPEN UP’. 7 - 9pm each week (registration from 6.30pm) £540 for full course, £320 for weeks 1 - 5 OR weeks 6 - 10.
Participants will work from specially selected objects, as well as from both male and female life models to explore line and tone, perspective and scale, measuring and foreshortening. The RA’s historic Life Room will be transformed into an elaborate tableau using theatrical props, costumes, drapes and life models for this experimental drawing course. Shahidha Bari, as they discuss why the erotic continues to challenge viewers and provoke controversy today. Learn the practical methods, tools and techniques of using oil paint, while working directly from a life model, in this exciting weekend-long workshop led by award-winning artist Andy Pankhurst.
